Classic One-Day Tour of Yancheng

Visit the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall to experience the revolutionary spirit, and wander around Water Street to explore the sea salt culture.

Day 1: New Fourth Army Memorial Hall → Yancheng Water Street Take Bus No.3, No.5 and other routes to reach the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall first. A monument stands in the courtyard right after the entrance, and the main building houses detailed historical records of the New Fourth Army as well as displayed weapons. There is also a calligraphy and painting gallery collecting works by renowned artists from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao.

Right opposite the memorial hall lies Yancheng Water Street, a great place to immerse yourself in the local sea salt culture. More than 50 shops line the street, selling distinctive tourist souvenirs themed on sea salt culture. Wooden boats drift slowly past Boat Theatre, Lao Zhou Teahouse, Calligraphy Pavilion and Cloud & Water Pavilion, and finally arrive at the grand mansion of ancient salt merchants at the northern end of the street.

Dining: While strolling along Water Street, you can watch traditional folk stunts and art performances, and taste a variety of local snacks.
