Transportation Information for Meizhou Island

Visitors can take the Fuzhou–Xiamen Expressway, exit at Huangshi in Putian, then follow the Xinwen Class I Highway to Wenjia Wharf. The journey from Xiamen to Wenjia takes about 2.5 hours, while the trip from Fuzhou lasts roughly 2 hours. Express shuttle buses run regularly from downtown Putian to Wenjia Wharf every 8 minutes, with a travel time of around 50 minutes. After arriving at Wenjia Wharf, take a regular ferry (15 minutes) or speedboat (5 minutes) to Meizhou Island.

Self-driving tourists may bring their vehicles onto the island via car ferry. Fare for the regular passenger ferry is 7 yuan per person, and the speedboat ticket costs 14 yuan per person.

Once on the island, tourists can take cars or battery carts from the parking lot at the ferry terminal, or rent vehicles to reach all scenic spots. You may also walk on foot to the Mazu Ancestral Temple.

Besides public buses, tourists can choose battery-powered carts, taxis, tandem bicycles and other means of transportation.
