The Best Hot Springs in Tengchong & Recommended Hot Spring Resorts

1. Angsana Hot Spring – A Perfect Romantic Getaway for Couples

Key Points: Private couple pools, various soaking pools, luxury experience
Angsana Tengchong Hot Spring Resort is situated in Beihai Township, Tengchong. The resort centres on distinctive hot spring pools. Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese poetry and paintings, it features buildings with upturned eaves and winding stone paths meandering through the gardens.
It boasts 28 hot spring villas, 9 courtyard houses with private hot springs, and 43 outdoor pools scattered across the grounds. The spacious Angsana Spa delivers an exclusive experience for guests.
The resort enjoys extremely high vegetation coverage. Lush plants surrounding the outdoor pools effectively block ultraviolet rays, making the design very user-friendly. Attendants are on call near every pool, offering thoughtful and attentive service. A set of refreshments is included with the hot spring ticket to replenish your energy while bathing.
Guests staying at the hotel can soak in their rooms directly, as the natural hot spring water is piped into every suite, leaving your skin silky smooth after bathing.
The resort is most famous for its two romantic couple pools: the Hand-in-Hand Pool and the Grow-Old-Together Pool. Nestled amid green gardens with semi-open surroundings, you can bathe in the breeze by day and beneath the stars at night, creating an incredibly romantic date with your beloved.

2. Banyan Tree Hot Spring – Luxury Five-Star Boutique Resort Closest to Heshun Ancient Town

Key Points: Convenient location, near the ancient town, quiet surroundings, seamless integration of hotel and hot springs
Banyan Tree Hot Spring Hotel is a high-end five-star boutique property newly built by Banyan Tree Group in 2014. Covering 50 mu, it is an open-air garden hot spring resort.
Its architecture and services skillfully combine Eastern health culture, Buddhist meditation culture and Western leisure concepts, while incorporating local volcanic culture, jade culture and international aromatherapy.
The hot spring zone is divided into four areas: Aroma Springs, Functional Springs, Wetland Springs and Forest Springs, with a total of 23 pools plus indoor and outdoor swimming pools. Hotel rooms connect directly to private hot springs, achieving perfect unity of accommodation and bathing.
Located inside Heshun Ancient Town, it is the nearest hot spring resort to downtown Tengchong. Completed relatively late, it features brand-new facilities and a serene environment. The low-temperature carbonated spring water is ideal for families with children.

3. Cherry Blossom Valley Hot Spring – Untamed Nature and Fresh Air Retreat

Key Points: Original ecology, natural forest oxygen bar, affordable price
Entrance to the hot springs is included in the ticket for Cherry Blossom Valley Scenic Area. Walking down the winding mountain trail, you will see clear mountain streams, primeval forests and rare plants everywhere. The hot spring pools scatter across this wild mountain landscape, tempting every visitor.
The main drawbacks are limited privacy and relatively low water temperature. Even so, many travellers cannot resist dipping into the crystal-clear, unpolluted spring water. A great number of visitors are especially fond of this open-air bathing experience surrounded by untouched nature.
A trip here is less about hot spring soaking and more about breathing fresh air, exploring ancient forests and enjoying rural mountain life. Everything retains its original natural flavour: local food, outdoor activities and wild hot springs. The simple homestays offer genuine rural experiences, different from downtown luxury hotels. After all, life is all about trying new adventures, especially amid such breathtaking mountains and rivers.

4. Rehai Hot Spring – Enjoy Both Hot Springs and Spectacular Natural Scenery

Key Points: World-famous geothermal site, unique springs, located inside a scenic area
Rehai Hot Spring, with the iconic Big Boiling Pot as its centrepiece, ranks top among all hot springs in Tengchong. Situated within Rehai Scenic Area, it perfectly combines sightseeing and hot spring bathing.
You can smell the strong sulphur long before entering the park. Few places nationwide have such high sulphur content and excellent water quality, which brings remarkable benefits to your health.
The most eye-catching attraction is the Big Boiling Pot, a circular high-temperature spring nearly six metres wide. The water temperature at the bottom exceeds 100°C, while the surface stays around 96°C. Local vendors sell eggs boiled in the hot spring, strung together with rice straw — definitely worth a try.
Strolling along the circular trail, you will pass countless steaming hot springs: Conception Well, Spectacles Spring, Pearl Spring, Drumming Spring, Lion Head Spring and Toad Mouth Spring. Every spring has a unique shape that lives up to its name.
Important reminder: The spring water is extremely hot. Never touch it casually to avoid scalding.
