The Stone Forest Scenic Area features low hills and extraordinary rock formations. Dense stone peaks rise abruptly from the ground, with the tallest less than 40 meters and the shortest under 2 meters. Some rocks cluster together while others stand alone, forming natural bonsai-like landscapes. Layered peaks of varying heights create graceful and varied shapes.
Scattered among the stone hills are numerous ponds and water pools stretching across the site. Covering a total area of 1,500 mu, the scenic area is well-deserved of its reputation as "uncommon nationwide and unparalleled in Guangxi".
Caves and winding passages weave through and between the peaks. Some spacious caverns resemble grand palaces, ideal for gatherings and rest, while the narrowest sections only allow one person to squeeze through sideways. The walking paths are like a maze, and visitors may easily find themselves back where they started.
A variety of subtropical plants thrive on the upper parts of the stone peaks, including 272 species of Chinese medicinal herbs valued for both medical use and ornamental beauty. The lower rock sections are exquisitely shaped with hollowed gaps, delicate textures and rugged contours, bearing the remarkable craftsmanship of nature just like the famous Taihu stones.
Ponds of different sizes intersperse the wider areas, accompanied by small bridges, flowing streams and winding paths. Bright flowers, singing birds and chirping insects create a peaceful fairyland.
In recent years, the Zhuang Ethnic Song Fair has been held here every year on the 10th day of the fourth lunar month. Tens of thousands of people gather for the event, presenting the authentic local ethnic customs.
