Local Specialties of Yangjiang
Yangjiang Kites
There is a well-known saying: "In the south there is Yangjiang; in the north there is Weifang."
Yangjiang boasts a kite-making heritage spanning over 1,400 years. Every year on the Double Ninth Festival, under crisp autumn skies, thousands of locals gather to fly kites, making it the grandest annual folk competition. In 1991, the Sports Commission of Guangdong Province named Yangjiang the "Hometown of Kites in Guangdong Province".
Amomum Villosum (Chun Sharen)
Amomum villosum exudes a rich aromatic scent. It is a precious medicinal herb that soothes the middle energizer, regulates qi, invigorates the stomach and aids digestion.
Amomum grown in the mountainous eastern area of Yangchun City under Yangjiang’s jurisdiction delivers the finest medicinal effects, known nationwide as "Chun Sharen", the top-grade amomum in China.
Malachite
Yangchun malachite is mainly mined in Mashui and Shilu, with a mining and processing history of more than 2,000 years.
Malachite features a gorgeous vivid green hue with patterns resembling the plumage of green peacocks, hence its name. A fine piece of malachite with an elegant shape, vibrant color and soft luster never fails to draw praise from onlookers.

Yangjiang is hailed as the "Capital of Chinese Knives and Scissors", with a cutlery manufacturing history stretching over 150 years.
Yangjiang knives and scissors are famous at home and abroad for their sharpness, attractive appearance and durability, supported by well-known brands including Shibazi, Silver Eagle, Yongguang and Shengda. Yangjiang is home to the China Kitchen Knife Center, China Scissors Center and China Pocket Knife Center.

Yangchun features rolling mountains, dense forests and crisscross rivers, yielding abundant root and stone resources.
Malachite is regarded as a treasure among China’s exotic stones. Wax stones are beloved and eagerly collected by connoisseurs for their diverse shapes, textures, colors and natural veins.
Yangjiang Fermented Black Beans
Crafted with age-old traditional techniques, Yangjiang fermented black beans carry a long history and outstanding color, aroma and flavor, making an excellent condiment.
They have won numerous accolades including the Guangdong High-Quality Product Award, National Ministry-level High-Quality Product Award, as well as silver medals at the China Food Expo and international expositions. Famous worldwide, they are exported to more than 30 countries and regions across Europe, America and beyond.
Lacquerware
A poem inscribed by Tian Han on April 13, 1962, during his visit to Yangjiang State-owned Lacquer Craft Factory reads:
A gentle maiden’s heart is fine as hair; master artisans wield magic in their hands.
Yangjiang red lacquer stands unmatched, preserving eternal Lingnan spring within.
Yangjiang lacquerware has a history of more than 300 years. As one of China’s traditional craftworks, it carries distinctive oriental ethnic charm and strong local Lingnan characteristics.
