Mountains for Hiking in Dongguan – Top Hiking Spots
Huangqi Mountain Urban Park
Located at the intersection of Dongguan Avenue and Middle Dongcheng Road, the park covers an area of 16 square kilometres. It boasts scenic and historic landmarks including the iconic lantern atop Huangqi Mountain and the ancient Huangqi Temple. An 8.4-kilometre greenway winds through the forests, linking Huangqi Mountain Urban Park with Huying Country Park; a full walk along the route takes roughly 3 hours.
Recommended Viewpoint
Huangqi Lantern. Standing at the summit of Huangqi Mountain with an elevation of 189 metres, the lantern-shaped pavilion offers a panoramic overlook of downtown Dongguan once you reach its top floor.

Shuilianshan Forest Park
Situated in Shuilian Community, Nancheng Subdistrict, the park spans 22.2 square kilometres, with its main peak reaching an altitude of 378 metres.
Recommended Viewpoint
Shuilian Pavilion. This five-storey pavilion sits atop the 378-metre Shuilian Peak. From here, the view stretches far and wide, delivering the feeling of "all other mountains appear dwarfed beneath you". Visitors can gaze across the city centre as well as towns including Humen, Houjie and Dalingshan.
Hiking Route
From the car park, follow the mountain road to the Ancient Temple Square, then proceed along the hiking trail all the way to Shuilian Pavilion on the peak; the whole journey takes around 1 hour.

Tongsha Ecological Park
Adjacent to National Highway 107 in the southern part of Dongcheng Subdistrict, the park covers 40.2 square kilometres.
Recommended Attraction
Yanlian Pavilion, together with other pavilions such as Incui Pavilion, Lancui Pavilion and Luoshu Pavilion, are situated in the Yingcui Lake Scenic Zone in the eastern section of the park. Encompassing 1,200 mu, the zone features distinctive bridges, waterside terraces, pavilions and covered corridors, fully embodying the delicate, elegant architectural style of Lingnan classical gardens.
Cycling Routes to Yingcui Lake
- From the main gate to Yanlian Pavilion: about 30 minutes by bike
- From the north gate to Yanlian Pavilion: roughly 20 minutes by bike

Dalingshan Forest Park
Lying in southern Dongguan, the park stretches across four towns: Dalingshan, Houjie, Humen and Changan, covering a total area of 74 square kilometres.
Recommended Viewpoint
Chaqu Xuan (Tea Interest Pavilion). Perched on Chashan Peak, the park’s highest point at 530 metres above sea level, the pavilion’s top floor opens up a sweeping vista of Humen, Changan, Dalingshan and Houjie. On clear days, visitors can even see the Pearl River Estuary, Humen Bridge and Songshan Lake in the distance.

- From Shidong via Bi You Valley and Camellia Trail: around 1.5 hours
- From Shidong through Bi You Valley, Bawang City and Cuilu Trail: 80 minutes
- From Shidong past Bawang City and Flag-Inserting Stone Trail: approximately 2 hours
