It falls on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month.

From August 19 to 20, the Yi Torch Festival themed Carry Forward the Long March Spirit, Promote National Unity and Joint Endeavor was held in Yantang Village, Shixiangzi Yi Township, Xuyong County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. Local Yi people and tourists from all over joined in torch activities to celebrate this grand festival known as the Oriental Carnival.

During the two-day event, locals performed traditional rituals of welcoming and sending off the sacred fire. A wide range of folk activities were staged one after another, including original folk song contests, traditional Yi sports competitions, beauty pageants, cultural performances, torch parades and bonfire dances, attracting numerous tourists to come and experience the unique customs.
