What are the distinctive festivals in Mianyang?
Flower Picking Festival

It is a festival with strong ethnic characteristics, mainly consisting of three parts: water snatching, flower picking and blessing. The flower picking and blessing sessions are accompanied by traditional ethnic songs and dances.

Also called the Wenchang Gathering, the fair is named after the worship of Emperor Wenchang. This folk custom has a history of over a thousand years, and it has been officially designated as a state sacrificial ceremony for nearly 600 years since the Ming Dynasty.
The temple fair at Qiqushan Grand Temple in Zitong is the largest, longest-lasting and most well-attended folk event in the region. Integrating sacrificial rituals, cultural activities and trade fairs, it is a comprehensive folk custom activity. Its influence extends to many counties in northwestern Sichuan and parts of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, drawing tens of thousands of visitors each year.
