Suining is located in eastern Sichuan and features a subtropical humid climate with typical characteristics of the Sichuan Basin. Spring arrives early yet is often followed by a late spring cold spell. Summers are hot, with alternating droughts and floods. Autumn sees continuous drizzle, while winters are mild and dry.

The ideal travel period is from March to November.
