Qianshan boasts gorgeous scenery with exceptionally fresh mountain air, making it a lovely destination. Hiking here is extremely enjoyable, though some visitors mention a lack of standard paper tickets. The landscapes are undeniably stunning, and ticket collection at scenic spots is efficient.
About Qianshan Mountain
Seventeen kilometers southeast of urban Anshan, Liaoning Province, Qianshan Mountain is a branch range of the Changbai Mountains. It takes its name, literally "Thousand Mountains", from its nearly one thousand peaks, and is hailed as the "Pearl of Northeast China".
Its four signature landscapes consist of grotesque peaks, pines rooted on rocky cliffs, ancient temples and pear blossoms. Geographically, it is divided into four scenic zones: Northern, Central, Southern and Western, encompassing 20 sub-scenic areas and 228 scenic spots scattered across multiple mountain valleys. Famous highlights include Immortal Platform, the prime spot for sunrise viewing, and the spectacular natural Qianshan Maitreya Giant Buddha.
With graceful scenery that transforms distinctly with each season, Qianshan is a top tourist resort integrating ancient temples and mountain gardens within one mountain range.
Immortal Platform is Qianshan’s highest peak, dotted with numerous time-honored cultural relics. The Five Major Buddhist Temples and three Taoist monasteries — Wuliangguan, Zhonghui Temple, Da’an Temple and Xiangyan Temple — all stand within this zone.
The Qianshan Maitreya Giant Buddha is a natural seated Maitreya carved from an entire mountain massif. Facing west with its back to the east, the Buddha rests its spread left hand naturally on its knee, while its clenched right fist presses against its right thigh. A faint string of prayer beads drapes its chest, and a natural cave forms the Buddha’s navel. Research dates its formation back roughly 100 million years. This world-famous wonder ranks alongside the Leshan Giant Buddha and Hong Kong Bronze Buddha as one of China’s three great giant Buddha statues.

By Train
- Air-conditioned overnight trains run between Anshan and Beijing, departing in the evening and arriving the next morning.
- If there is no direct train to Anshan Railway Station from your city, you may take a train to Anshan West Railway Station and transfer to a bus.
By Public Bus
- Exit Anshan Railway Station and take Bus No.8 bound for Qianshan Stop.
- At the bus terminal outside Anshan West Railway Station, take Bus No.605 to Taiping Village Stop, then switch to Bus No.8 to reach Qianshan Stop.
Visitors with private vehicles may drive there directly.

Best Visiting Seasons
March to May and September to November are the ideal periods to visit Qianshan.
Spring features pleasant weather perfect for mountain climbing. The Peach Blossom Valley, newly renovated in 2013, reaches its peak beauty during this season.
Summer scenery on Qianshan is less impressive and not highly recommended, yet tourists may still visit if they wish.
Autumn brings Qianshan’s most enchanting view: golden forest silhouettes against the sunset. Wandering uphill along trails, visitors are greeted by a dazzling mosaic of multicolored leaves.
Winter temperatures on the mountain drop sharply, making it unsuitable for sightseeing.
