Bayuquan District, also known as Yingkou Economic and Technological Development Zone (shortened as Yingkou Development Zone), represents an administrative division while the development zone is an economic functional zone. Nestled on the Bohai coast in the central Liaodong Peninsula, Bayuquan District is 50 kilometers south of downtown Yingkou, 210 kilometers north of Shenyang and 170 kilometers south of Dalian. Covering a total area of 268 square kilometers, it is hailed as the "Pearl of the Bohai Sea" and the "Little Yalong Bay of Northern China". In 2009, its regional GDP reached 30.4 billion yuan, with a per capita GDP of 8,941 US dollars.
