Jinzhou apples, Beizhen Ya pears and ginkgo fruits are quite famous throughout Northeast China. Among tourist handicrafts, agate carving is particularly outstanding.

The apple is universally known as the "Fruit of Wisdom" and "Fruit of Peace", a popular fruit for ordinary people. Chairman Mao’s famous words have endowed Jinzhou apples with unique cultural meaning, turning them into a cultural and spiritual symbol. The city leverages this historic quotation to revitalize the Jinzhou apple brand, further develop apple culture, and build a strong cultural atmosphere centred on apples.

In June 1996, during the relocation of the old Lingchuan Distillery, workers accidentally unearthed four wooden wine containers buried underground. They held raw liquor sealed in the Yisi year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1845 AD), with roughly four tons of original wine preserved underground for 151 years.

A panel of archaeologists and brewing experts organized by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and Jinzhou Municipal Government identified this century-old buried tribute liquor as "extremely rare and a national treasure of the world". The experts named it Daoguang Nianwu Liquor (Daoguang Twenty-Five).

Agate is a precious jade material. Boasting countless shapes and rich rainbow colours, it is hailed as "a thousand varieties of agate". Agate carving is a time-honoured distinctive traditional craft unique to Jinzhou, Liaoning Province. Beizhen Ya pear in Jinzhou has a cultivation history of more than 200 years. It features thin fine skin, yellowish-green peel, sweet juicy flesh and rich fragrance. Its inverted oval shape resembles a duck’s head, hence the name Ya pear. The fruit has excellent storage resistance and can be kept fresh until February or March of the following year.

Directly facing the railway station, Central Street is Jinzhou’s bustling commercial thoroughfare. It gathers a great many shopping facilities, ranging from the old department store to modern plazas including Jinhua Shopping Mall, Hualian Commercial Building and Zhongda Shopping Centre.
