Travel Tips for Shennongjia
General Precautions
Shennongjia features a cold, humid and changeable climate. In summer, it is cool in the morning and evening yet hot at noon. Please bring adequate clothing to avoid catching a cold.
The mountain weather is unpredictable, and temperatures are generally lower than those in plain areas. Disposable raincoats are available at all scenic spots, but it is still recommended to take rain gear with you during the trip. Gloves are a must due to numerous thorns in the woods. Wear durable and anti-slip shoes; prepare two pairs during the rainy season along with a shoe dryer.
When walking in the forests, wear a hat, long-sleeve tops, long trousers with cuffs and trouser legs tightly fastened, and tall boots. These precautions help prevent bites from venomous insects and snakes.
The journey to Shennongjia is long. It is advisable to bring medicine for fatigue relief and motion sickness.
Whether you travel in a group or alone, please purchase personal and property insurance in advance.
Please protect the local ecological environment while visiting the scenic areas.
Wear hats, long sleeves and long trousers with tight cuffs to keep mosquitoes away when hiking in the woods.
If a rainstorm hits in the mountains, first figure out your bearings and head for an open flat area. This prevents you from getting lost and keeps you safe from lightning strikes.
Always carry a first-aid kit with common medicines and emergency supplies.
Check the room facilities upon checking into a hotel. Please do not take away any non-disposable items.
Apart from a compass, observe the direction of mountain streams. Following the water flow is a reliable way to find your way.
