Langfang’s traditional cuisine belongs to the south-central school of Hebei cuisine. It uses a wide range of ingredients and features exquisite craftsmanship, placing great emphasis on perfect color, aroma and taste. Its most representative dishes include Langfang smoked meat and Yongqing Hu's Braised Chicken. Today, Langfang has developed into a modern city with convenient transportation and a thriving economy. Sanhe Tofu Shreds
A signature specialty of Langfang, Sanhe tofu shreds taste fresh and refreshing without feeling greasy even after frequent consumption, winning great popularity among local residents. The water in Sanhe is clear, cold and pure. Tofu made with this water is tender, smooth and snow-white.
A folk rhyme sums up its traditional production techniques:
"Select fine beans, removing all worms, grit and shrivelled grains;
Rinse and stir the soaked beans frequently, change water on schedule;
Keep soybean milk flowing steadily;
Grind the beans thoroughly with proper fineness;
Master water properties for curdling, distinguish fresh, salty and sweet water clearly;
Press step by step as required, apply light pressure first then heavy to form fine tofu."
Tofu sheets made following these steps are cut into shreds and served cold. They look appealing, come in generous portions and taste wonderfully savory.
Xianghe Meat Pancake
Xianghe County lies between Beijing and Tianjin, covering an area of 458 square kilometers with a population of 300,000. Small as it is, the county is famous far and wide for its meat pancakes. Many people who come here for furniture shopping or business will stop by to have a taste, and quite a number of visitors travel here specially for this delicacy. With a history of over 200 years, Xianghe meat pancake evolved from the Turkic pancake dating back more than a thousand years.

Xiyuzhai Pastries
As a time-honored halal pastry brand in Langfang, Xiyuzhai remains a favorite among local elders. Its mooncakes are sold in corners of supermarkets such as Mingzhu and Wuweizhai. The varieties are mainly traditional Zilaihong mooncakes and milk-skin mooncakes, stuffed with classic fillings like jujube paste and red bean paste. Even so, they attract plenty of customers.
While many mooncake makers keep launching new products, Xiyuzhai adheres firmly to its traditional style. Priced at just two to three yuan apiece, its affordability is not the only draw. Locals choose it mainly for the fine quality and reasonable price.
