Yuhuangge Site is situated to the north of Yuhuangge Village, Gaoxian Township, 17 kilometers northwest of Taikang County seat. It was designated a Municipal Cultural Relic Protection Unit by the People’s Government of Zhoukou City in 2006.
The site occupies a highland stretching 380 meters from north to south and 240 meters from east to west, covering a total area of 91,200 square meters. An east-west thoroughfare cuts across the site, dividing it into northern and southern sections. Ash pits are exposed on the cliff face in the northern part, with a cultural layer roughly 2 meters thick.
Pottery unearthed at Yuhuangge Site is predominantly grey pottery featuring large vessel shapes and thick walls, bearing distinctive local stylistic traits. The wares are mainly sandy grey clay pottery, alongside plain red clay pottery. Decorative patterns include corded patterns, applied relief bands, basket patterns, thick cord patterns and fine cord patterns. Judging from the shapes and decorative motifs of the pottery, the site contains cultural remains of the Erlitou Culture as well as the Shang and Zhou dynasties.
