Best Visiting Season: Shiren Mountain boasts distinctive scenery all year round. In spring, birds sing amid blooming flowers and green trees mirror murmuring streams. In autumn, the whole mountain is covered with fiery red foliage. In winter, everything is wrapped in snow, forming a vast snow forest. Summers here are cool and pleasant.

Transportation Guide Public Transport: Direct tourist buses run from Pingdingshan to Shiren Mountain. In addition, trains originating from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Chengdu, Yichang, Huaihua, Wuxi, Nanjing and other cities stop at Lushan Railway Station. Minibuses in Lushan County carry passengers to Shiren Mountain.

Self-driving: Shiren Mountain is close to the Jiaozuo-Zhicheng Railway, and National Highways 311 and 207 run through the scenic area.

On-site Transportation: The scenic area is well equipped with facilities. There are two cableways serving Shiren Valley and Red Maple Valley, plus a 2,000-metre granite slide known as "the No.1 Slide under Heaven".

Shiren Mountain Nature Reserve is located in western Lushan County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, at the eastern end of the Funiu Mountains, covering a total area of 268 square kilometres. Its main peak, Yuhuangding, stands at an altitude of 2,153 metres, over 300 metres higher than Lianhuafeng, the highest peak of Huangshan Mountain.

Shiren Mountain was originally named Yaoshan. It got its name because Liu Lei, a descendant of Emperor Yao, built a shrine here to honour his ancestor. During the Warring States Period, Mozi, the great thinker and social reformer, was born at the foot of Yaoshan.

Shiren Mountain features numerous peaks combining grandeur, peril, grace, wonder and seclusion. It is home to ancient pine trees with grotesque shapes resembling calligraphy and paintings. Vast sea of clouds rolls like waves, creating a fairyland atmosphere. Waterfalls fall freely in extraordinary forms. Every season presents charming landscapes blending natural beauty and poetic sentiment.

The scenic area is adjacent to Zhaoping Lake, a large artificial reservoir with a storage capacity of more than 700 million cubic metres.
