Jinhai Snow Mountain Ethnic Cultural Scenic Area, Guiding County
I. Scenic Area Introduction
Jinhai Snow Mountain Scenic Area is located in Panjiang Town, a place with a long history of Buyi culture. Every spring, golden rape flowers bloom across ten thousand mu of flat farmland, while snow-white crisp plum blossoms cover thousands of mu of hillsides. The blossoms bloom in full rivalry, forming the unique and enchanting landscape of golden seas and snow-capped mountains.
The scenic area is 11 kilometres from Guiding County seat and 50 kilometres from Guiyang, the provincial capital. The Guiyang-Xinyi Expressway and National Highway 210 lead directly to the site.
Boasting superior geographic location, abundant natural resources and well-preserved ethnic villages, the scenic area governs 14 natural villages including Yinzhai, Luohai, Zhulinbao and Maidong. Ethnic Buyi people account for 95 percent of the total population. It is a cluster of Buyi villages featuring simple folk customs and rich ethnic charm.
It has won numerous honours: China’s No.1 Buyi Village, National Demonstration Site for Agricultural Tourism, Hometown of Crisp Plums in China, National 3A-level Tourist Attraction, and Top Ten Charming Scenic Spots in Guizhou. It is also among the 100 key scenic areas prioritized for development in the province.
The diverse natural scenery, authentic Buyi folk customs, sightseeing agriculture and local delicacies including Panjiang dog meat and traditional Buyi dishes together create a gorgeous scenic highlight in central Guizhou.
To optimize planning, upgrade infrastructure, improve services and enhance overall quality, so as to drive the transformation and upgrading of tourism industry in Guiding County, the in-depth development and quality improvement of Jinhai Snow Mountain have been put high on the agenda. The scenic area has entered a phase of rapid upgrading.
In September 2015, a special renovation campaign was fully launched. The comprehensive upgrading project covers 53 sub-projects: the village gate of Yinzhai (China’s No.1 Buyi Village), the Buyi Eternal Romance Performance Centre, outdoor supporting facilities for the theatre, pastoral water bars, Rice Dreamland, water town streets, cycling lanes, power grid renovation, and Buyi totem sculptures. The total investment reaches 365 million yuan.
Up to now, the Rice Dreamland Experience Park has been completed and opened to visitors. All remaining projects will be finished by the end of the year. Authorities aim to upgrade the scenic area from national 3A-level to 4A-level within one to two years.
