Reconstruction Project of Yangbaoshan Heritage Park & Cultural Tourism Resort

Yangbaoshan Mountain is located 3 kilometres north of Guiding County seat. It is famous for Buddhist culture. Its religious history began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties. During those two dynasties, it was ranked among the three great Buddhist sacred mountains in southwest China, alongside Mount Emei in Sichuan and Jizu Mountain in Yunnan. A local folk saying goes: In the north stands Shaolin Temple; in the south rises Yangbaoshan Mountain. Ancient records hailed it as "the scenic wonder of eastern Guizhou", and it is documented in historical books such as Records of Guizhou in the Ming Dynasty, Records of Famous Scenic Spots in Guizhou, Brief Account of Qiannan compiled in the Qing Dynasty, and General History of Guizhou.

In February 2015, Guiding County launched a joint development project with enterprises under the PPP model. Following the core principle of "government-initiated projects, capital injection from funds, public participation and market-oriented operation", the county adopted a corporate management model, officially kicking off the reconstruction of Yangbaoshan Heritage Park and the construction of the tourism resort.

The whole construction period is initially scheduled for five years with a total investment of 2.4 billion yuan. This comprehensive Buddhist cultural tourism project integrates religion, meditation, health preservation and holiday services. Based on the Buddhist cultural resources of Yangbaoshan Mountain, the project will reconstruct and build the Grand Buddha of Yangbaoshan, Maitreya Buddha, Buddhist Tea Garden, Lianhua Temple, Feifeng Temple, as well as supporting facilities including a tourist reception centre and Lianhua Square. The goal is to rebuild its glory and build Yangbaoshan into a world-famous Buddhist sacred mountain.
