Hanshan Forest Park lies in the southwestern part of Hetang Township, in the middle section of the Luoxiao Mountains along the border of Hunan and Jiangxi Provinces.

Hanshan National Forest Park enjoys a humid subtropical climate with mild temperatures, abundant rainfall and sufficient sunshine. The temperature varies greatly between day and night. Such superior natural conditions have nurtured abundant forest resources.

The park boasts more than 1,400 species of vascular plants, including over 10 varieties of national Class I and Class II protected plants such as Chinese yew, ginkgo, dawn redwood and dysosma versipellis. There are also 35 species of nationally protected wild animals, including clouded leopard, white-necked long-tailed pheasant, pangolin, otter and large Indian civet.

The park features rolling low and medium hills with complicated terrain. Layered mountains crisscrossed by valleys stretch as far as the eye can see, blanketed in lush greenery.

Natural waterfalls include the Three-Tiered Spring of Hanshan, Lovers’ Waterfall, Dragon Pool Cascade, Zigzag Waterfall, and the over-180-metre waterfall at Tiger Pool. Other natural scenic spots include Thunder-Struck Rock and Immortal Yang’s Long Rock.
