Gaotianyan Nature Reserve

Gaotianyan Nature Reserve is located in the northeastern part of Gaozhou Township, Lianhua County, on the southern foot of the Wugong Mountains. It is the source of the Lian River, a tributary of the Gan River.

With an altitude of 1,275.2 metres, it forms the boundary between Lianhua County and Anfu County. Looking north, you can see Jinding, the main peak of Wugong Mountain National Scenic Area. Looking south, you enjoy a full panoramic view of Lianhua County, and the landscapes of Anfu County unfold completely to the east.

The mountain is dotted with grotesque rocks. The open highland is always swept by refreshing breezes. Major scenic spots include the Crouching Bull Peak, Miaogao Platform, Immortal Stone Cave, Golden Toad Worshipping the Moon, azalea forests and Huangsha Ecological Village.

The azalea forest lies on the summit of Gaotianyan. Every spring and autumn, red azaleas bloom like blazing flames, mixed with lavender blossoms.

Huangsha Village sits in northern Lianhua County, Jiangxi Province, more than 850 metres above sea level. It stands on the spur of the Wugong Mountain Range, part of the Luoxiao Mountains, with Wugong Mountain to the north and Gaotianyan to the south.

It is a typical alpine ecological village nestled in a small basin on Gaotianyan, surrounded by lush wooded mountains and towering ancient trees. The scenery changes distinctly with the four seasons. The annual average temperature is 15°C, making it a perfect natural summer resort.
