One-Day Tour: Beauty Hunt at Xishi’s Hometown

Depart Shanghai in the morning via the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressways to Wuxie Scenic Area in Zhuji (4.5 hours’ drive). Spend around 40 minutes on lunch to sample distinctive farmhouse delicacies of Zhuji. After lunch, tour Wuxie, a national scenic spot, national forest park, national AAAA-level tourist attraction and natural forest oxygen bar (the whole visit lasts about 3.5 hours). Depart Shanghai in the morning via the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressways for Diantangfan, one of China’s Top Ten Leisure Farms, for a spring outing (4 hours’ drive). Enjoy leisure activities for roughly 1.5 hours: escape the hustle and bustle of cities, unwind amid farmlands and woods, return to a simple natural lifestyle and savour laid-back rural charm. Visitors can experience fruit picking and angling, and taste genuine fresh farmhouse cuisine. After lunch, drive for 15 minutes to Xishi’s Hometown, a national AAAA-level scenic area built with an investment of 1.5 billion RMB. It features vivid, lifelike statues of the Four Great Beauties led by Xishi, as well as distinguished outstanding women from all dynasties of China. The 3–3.5-hour sightseeing covers Xishi Palace (the landmark shrine of Xishi culture), Fan Li Shrine (the God of Literary Wealth, where tourists pray for academic progress), ancient Yue-style folk performances at the Zheng Clan Ancestral Hall, and the Folk Custom Museum exploring the origins of traditional beauty culture. Return at approximately 16:30.

Leave Shanghai early morning via the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressways en route to Douyan Scenic Area in Zhuji (4 hours’ drive). Have lunch for about 40 minutes. Post-lunch, tour Douyan, a sacred Buddhist resort for 1.5 hours, featuring an 81.6-metre giant Buddha, lifelike magical Thousand-Buddha Mountain, rock climbing, giant drum beating and the Dragon King Hall. Drive 20 minutes to Tangjiangyan, the largest outdoor outward bound training base with complete supporting facilities in East China. Experience thrilling outward bound challenges and large-scale aquatic entertainment activities for around 2.5 hours. Head back at around 16:30.

Set off from Shanghai in the morning via the Shanghai-Hangzhou and Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressways to Jinzhu Villa, the cherry picking base in Tongshan Town, Zhuji (4 hours’ drive). Spend 1.5 hours on rural recreation: get away from urban noise, relax among mountain forests, embrace an uncomplicated rustic life and enjoy peaceful countryside leisure. You can experience cherry picking and sample fresh farmhouse dishes. After lunch, drive 15 minutes to Tangjiangyan, East China’s largest fully-equipped outdoor outward bound training base. Take part in exciting outward bound programmes and large water amusement activities for about 2.5 hours. Depart for the return journey at around 16:00.
