Mucheng River Rural Tourist Attraction

Mucheng Village nestles between mountains and rivers. The Mucheng River winds through the village, encircling three natural villages: Xiabaodu, Xinpo and Mucheng.

The region enjoys a mild climate with cold-free winters and cool summers. Its ecological environment is well preserved, with lush vegetation covering the mountains. The river here features crystal-clear water teeming with wild fish, and idyllic pastoral scenery stretches far and wide.

Local residents celebrate a host of ethnic festivals including the April 8th Festival, the Sixth Day of the Sixth Lunar Month Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Ghost Festival of the Seventh Lunar Month. There are also colourful ethnic costumes, traditional cuisines and folk handicrafts. The perfect combination of gorgeous natural scenery and profound cultural resources lays a solid foundation for rural tourism development.

At present, Duanqiao Town has formulated the development strategy of vitalizing the town through tourism. It has initially built the Mucheng River Scenic Area, opened farm stay inns, constructed ferry terminals and prepared bamboo rafts. The rural tourism industry has taken initial shape.

Rural tourism is growing increasingly popular. With further development of Guizhou’s West Tourism Route, the village has been officially approved as a provincial-level rural tourism site and is now applying for the national-level title.
