Take a bus from the county bus station for around 10 minutes; the fare is 1 yuan. Alternatively, take a taxi from the county seat for approximately 15 yuan.
Anji Bamboo Expo Garden is situated in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, China’s renowned hometown of bamboo. It is 65 kilometers away from Hangzhou, 64 kilometers from Huzhou, 226 kilometers from Shanghai and 230 kilometers from Nanjing, boasting highly convenient transportation links.
As a classic and flagship scenic spot of bamboo-town tourism, Anji Bamboo Expo Garden lets visitors behold rare and exotic bamboo species from across the globe and trace the thousand-year history of bamboo processing and utilization. It is the world’s largest bamboo-themed park and home to China’s sole professional bamboo museum. Gentle breezes stir the swaying bamboo groves, casting dappled shadows everywhere.
Spanning 600 mu, the garden cultivates over 300 varieties of bamboo. These rare, seldom-seen bamboo species vary vastly in appearance: some tower tall toward the sky, others creep low to the ground; some are as thin as knitting needles, while others bear leaves as broad as silk cloth; some boast striking colorful stalks, and others grow in strangely twisted shapes.
Scattered amid the emerald bamboo groves are pavilions, terraces, towers, rockeries and fountains brimming with distinctive Jiangnan charm. Winding paths lead to quiet hidden nooks, exuding endless poetic grace. Immersed in this scenery, visitors will be utterly captivated by the breathtaking beauty of nature.
Nestled within the lush bamboo stands, the China Bamboo Museum encapsulates 6,000 years of bamboo culture. Ranked top-tier in China and world-leading among specialized bamboo museums, the museum covers a total floor area of 12,000 square meters and consists of eight exhibition halls: History Hall, Bamboo Resources & Cultivation Hall, Literature & Art Hall, Bamboo Craft Gallery, International Exhibition Hall and more. Through abundant exhibits, detailed historical records, high-tech multimedia facilities and patient guided tours, visitors can learn about China—the “Land of Bamboo Culture”—its abundant bamboo resources, age-old bamboo heritage and splendid bamboo civilization.
The expo garden also offers a wide array of recreational activities for guests to enjoy, including horse riding, go-karting, camping, barbecuing, fishing, archery hunting, navigating bamboo mazes, solving plum blossom Bagua labyrinths, listening to bamboo instrumental music, watching folk custom performances, boating on the lake, and sipping tea amid bamboo woods. Truly, Anji Bamboo Expo Garden is an ideal destination for relaxation, mood nourishment and intellectual enrichment!
A trip to China’s Bamboo Homeland would be incomplete without visiting the China Bamboo Museum and exploring Anji Bamboo Expo Garden.
Covering 600 mu, the scenic area features sub-attractions including the Inner Garden, Bamboo Lake, Bamboo Maze, Bamboo Fun Park, greenhouses, Bamboo Viewing Tower and Green Pasture Resort, all included in the admission fee with no extra charges.
A recommended itinerary: start your tour with the China Bamboo Museum, then wander through the bamboo forest to admire exotic bamboo species worldwide. After calming your mind amid the greenery, you can go boating on the lake, taste tea in the woods, or dance with ethnic minority girls. A full sightseeing experience lasts over four hours.
A designated camping zone lies within the scenic area, and a resort is located just 50 meters away. With easy access to transport, visitors need not worry about dining or accommodation arrangements.
