The Calligraphy Xin Gu Zhai (Studio of Trusting Antiquity) Handwritten by the Kangxi Emperor

The Loyalty and Diligence Shrine, home to the Wang Yuyang Memorial Hall, is located in Xincheng Town, Huantai County. The entire complex adopts a brick-and-timber structure with an unadorned yet elegant appearance, retaining the typical architectural style of the Ming Dynasty.

Covering a total area of 10,000 square meters, the memorial hall consists of two main courtyards on the east and west sides, housing seven exhibition rooms and a stone carving garden. The stone carving exhibition room displays 185 stone steles classified as National Grade-III Cultural Relics or above. Apart from steles compiled from calligraphic characters by master calligraphers Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, Liu Gongquan and Yan Zhenqing, it also contains carved stone replicas of authentic works by celebrated Ming calligraphers including Zhu Yunming, Dong Qichang and Xing Tong.

The exhibition room dedicated to Wang Yuyang’s life showcases his poetry, prose, literary works, handwritten manuscripts and personal seals. It also displays original imperial inscriptions bestowed upon Wang Yuyang by the Kangxi Emperor — Xin Gu Zhai (Studio of Trusting Antiquity) and Dai Jing Tang (Hall of Carrying Classics) — alongside reproductions of these precious artifacts, offering abundant and detailed materials for understanding and researching Wang Yuyang.
