Hoh Nur Tourist Scenic Area

Located in Chenbalhu Banner, Hulunbuir City, Hoh Nur Scenic Area is 46 kilometres from Hailar and 160 kilometres from Manzhouli. It sits adjacent to National Highway 301, boasting convenient transportation and an advantageous geographical location. Centered on a multi-functional yurt-style visitor centre covering over 700 square metres, the scenic area forms a cluster of yurts capable of seating 2,000 diners and accommodating 600 overnight guests simultaneously, with more than a dozen scenic spots for sightseeing.

Core tourist activities include natural grassland eco-sightseeing, nomadic experience tours, herdsman homestay visits, horse and camel riding, horse lassoing, horse training, horse racing, Bokh wrestling, archery performances, Aobao Worship, ethnic song and dance shows, bonfire parties, angling, lake cruises, speedboat rides, jet skiing, and wetland bird watching.

Nestled deep within the world-famous Hulunbuir Grassland, Hoh Nur is blessed by nature with endless green steppe dotted by a clear blue lake, blending the grandeur of grasslands and the grace of rippling waters. Its name derives from Mongolian, meaning “Blue Lake”.

The scenic area encompasses 4 square kilometres of natural grassland and a 12-square-kilometre lake connected to the Hailar River and the Morigele River. In 2003, it was honoured as the only National Agricultural & Animal Husbandry Tourism Demonstration Site in eastern Inner Mongolia. In 2007, it was officially designated a 4A-level scenic area by the National Tourism Administration.

A total investment of 20 million RMB has been poured into its development. Centered on the 700-square-metre multi-functional yurt visitor centre, the yurt cluster can host 2,000 diners and 600 overnight visitors at one time, alongside over a dozen sightseeing attractions.

Now a flagship tourism enterprise of Hulunbuir City, it has received numerous national leaders and Hong Kong & Macao political dignitaries. Foreign tourists hail from dozens of countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Japan, while domestic visitors arrive in an endless stream, with an annual reception volume of 150,000 tourists.

Hoh Nur Tourist Scenic Area sits at the heart of the Hulunbuir Grassland.
