Caimeng Scenic Area of Mengshan Mountain

As one of the four major scenic zones of Mengshan Mountain, Caimeng Scenic Area is situated in the southwestern tip of Yinan County, covering an area of 52 square kilometers. It forms an integral part of Mengshan National Geopark and Mengshan National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction.

Commonly known as Wucai Mountain (Five-Colored Mountain), the scenic area gets its name from its five peaks arranged in an arc like five fingers. Right after rain when the sky clears, sunlight refracts through the mist shrouding the five peaks, unfolding a gorgeous colorful spectacle. Its main peak, Caimeng Summit, stands at an altitude of 762.8 meters, the highest point in Yinan County. The mountain features gentle southern slopes and precipitous northern slopes, with layered ridges and crisscross gullies. It presents distinctive four-season views: blooming cherry blossoms in spring, plump chestnuts in autumn, cascading waterfalls in summer and snow-covered peaks in winter. It boasts numerous ingeniously shaped natural attractions renowned far and wide, including the Golden Toad Greeting Guests, Fairy Hanging Clothes, Layered Green Mountain Waterfalls and Dragon Pool Playground.

The forest coverage rate of the scenic area reaches 70%, with over 30,000 mu of woodlands growing more than 30 rare tree species. Tests conducted by the Ecological Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences show that the concentration of negative oxygen ions in the local air hits 2.2 million per cubic centimeter — 4,400 times the average concentration of air near the ground, ranking top nationwide. It is hailed as a "natural oxygen bar" and a "paradise for health preservation".

The local soil and climate are ideal for cherry cultivation. Caimeng cherries feature bright color, large size and delicious taste, earning widespread fame. Black goats are a local specialty of Wucai Mountain, drawing numerous diners with tender meat and fresh savory soup.

The scenic area also boasts abundant cultural relics. It is home to a wealth of red revolutionary sites dating back to the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, such as the former site of Shandong Post Bureau, the original editorial office of Dazhong Daily, and the spot where Hans Shippe, an international friend, sacrificed his life
