Changan Camp Scenic Area

Nestled at the foot of Nanshan Mountain in the southwest of the county, this scenic spot sits at the junction of Hunan, Guangxi and Guizhou provinces. Boasting precipitous terrain, it was a strategic stronghold contested by military forces in ancient times.

To maintain long-term peace and stability, the Qing imperial government built a military garrison and stationed troops here, naming it Changan Camp, commonly known as "the Second Prefecture of Baoqing". Historical records document that more than 8,000 soldiers were once garrisoned here at its peak, making it a thriving military town in its heyday. Remnants including the ancient Changan Camp city wall, horse racing grounds, military drill yards and old streets still survive to this day, and the Manchu ethnic group has resided here ever since.

The scenic area now mainly covers attractions such as Dazhai Ethnic Culture Village, an artificially planted ancient cedar grove dating back to the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the Changping Red Army Monument, and the Yanzhai All-Season Vegetable Base. At Dazhai Ethnic Culture Village, visitors can taste Dong oil tea, listen to Dong folk songs, watch Dong ethnic dances, take part in traditional Dong sports events, and immerse themselves in rich and diverse ethnic customs.
