The stone archway is the landmark building of Longzhong, erected in the 19th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty. Constructed in an imitation timber-framed style, it adopts a four-pillar, three-gate multi-storey structure, standing around 6 meters tall and approximately 10 meters wide. The central stone tablet of the archway is carved with three large characters "Ancient Longzhong", flanked by the well-known mottos "Live simply to uphold lofty aspirations" and "Cultivate tranquility to pursue far-reaching goals".

Ancient records state: To the west of Xiangyang City lies a mountain rising prominently in the midst of the terrain, hence named Longzhong. As a saying goes about Longzhong: "The place takes its name from the mountain, and the mountain gains its soul from a great man." That figure who infused Mount Longzhong with timeless spirit is none other than Zhuge Liang.
