Transportation Guide

As the eastern gateway of Guangxi, Wuzhou is a key transportation hub connecting Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao with the vast southwest region of China.
Benefiting from superior waterway conditions, Wuzhou has been a famous trading port since ancient times. Located in the middle reaches of the Pearl River Basin, it borders Guangdong, is close to Hong Kong and Macao, and is backed by the extensive southwest hinterland. Most import and export goods from southwest China pass through Wuzhou, sailing down the Xijiang River to Guangzhou and then to Hong Kong. Therefore, it is one of the most important commodity distribution centers and a vital trade passage in southwest China. With more than one hundred years of trading history, it is a commerce-based city.
Inland river shipping is the main mode of transportation. Wuzhou is the major water transport hub and trading port of Guangxi, known as "Guangxi’s Water Gateway". It is the second largest inland river port in China, only next to Guangzhou, and has established trade partnerships with over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Highways constitute the primary land transport network linking Wuzhou with neighbouring cities, and the railway connecting Wuzhou and Yulin is under construction. Owing to its profound commercial heritage and convenient transport system, Wuzhou boasts an excellent investment environment and is an ideal investment destination.
Wuzhou enjoys convenient land transportation. National Highways G321 and G207 intersect in the city. The Xijiang River Bridge completed after 1990 links the two arterial highways, ensuring smooth road travel between Wuzhou and Guangzhou, Nanning, Liuzhou, Guilin, Zhuhai and Shenzhen. First-class highways and expressways run from Wuzhou to Guangzhou and Shenzhen; a Class II highway connects Wuzhou and Nanning; an expressway leading to Guilin is planned. Travelling north or south from Wuzhou is extremely easy.
After the completion of the Xijiang River Bridge, the Second Xijiang River Bridge (Yunlong Bridge), the Third Guijiang River Bridge (Yuanyang River Bridge), as well as Zizhu Bridge and Lianhua Bridge leading to Lianhua Hill were put into use one after another, forming a well-developed highway network for urban and through traffic. The Luoyang-Zhanjiang Railway passing through Wuzhou was included in the national Ninth Five-Year Plan, and a high-standard, interconnected transportation network is gradually taking shape.
Wuzhou Changzhou Island Civil Airport was built on Changzhou Island, about 4 kilometres from the municipal government square in 1994. The airport can accommodate Boeing 737 and MD82 aircraft. It has launched multiple air routes to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other cities, and will resume flights to Hong Kong.

Scenic Spot Description

Nestled in the mountains on the south bank of the Xunjiang River, Babao Pond features winding lake bays, islets and low hills covered with dense woods. According to legend, the Eight Immortals once roamed here, enjoying celestial music and feasting throughout the night. They left eight small islets behind as a souvenir, hence the name Babao Pond (Pond of Eight Treasures).
Since the Tropic of Cancer runs right across this area, it has been developed into an astronomical park
