Scenic Introduction
In ancient times, the area around Xingtai was a rare zone of abundant natural springs in North China. Water gushed out from hundreds of caves, creating a spectacular natural scene known as "springs surrounding the whole city". Dahuoquan Spring was the most famous one. It was listed among the Eight Sights of the Ox City (Xingtai). Later, a park was built around the spring, and the Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall was constructed inside the park.
The Guo Shoujing Science and Technology Park lies in the southeast of the main park. The whole zone features classical garden architecture including covered corridors, pavilions, stone bridges, terraces and halls.
Starting from the south gate of the park, visitors will first pass the fountain pond showcasing Guo Shoujing’s remarkable achievements in water conservancy projects, then arrive at the Star Square in front of the bronze statue of Guo Shoujing. Walking past the Star Observatory, you will reach the Guo Shoujing Memorial Hall.
To the east of the memorial hall stands a popular science zone displaying winter and summer constellations in honour of Guo Shoujing’s astronomical feats. On the west side sits Purple Mountain, named after the place where Guo Shoujing pursued his studies in his youth.
Centred on an artificial lake, the water recreation zone features cascading waterfalls, a solitary fishing islet, a boat pier and various pavilions.
The plant viewing area is redesigned based on the original woodland and nursery grounds, including a forest bathing area, sun lawn, peony garden and subtropical flower garden
