The city enjoys convenient public transport with buses running directly to the scenic spot. Visitors may also take a taxi to get there.

The scenic area is located in the southeast of Lianhua Mountain in Laicheng District, covering a total area of more than 20 square kilometers. It features rolling steep mountain ranges, deep and secluded forested valleys, rosy clouds curling around the peaks, mist drifting out of rocky caves, clusters of exotic stone formations, precipitous gullies, blooming mountain wildflowers, and the rustling sound of pine waves. Beautiful birds sing atop the mountains, while mountain springs flow everywhere across the land.

Since its development and construction launched in July 2004, the scenic area has adhered to high-standard positioning and forward-thinking planning. To date, over 2 million RMB has been invested. A total of 20 kilometers of roads have been built winding from the mountain foot to the summit, a parking lot covering more than 8,000 square meters has been leveled and constructed, and several service facilities including a large antique-style ecological gate have been completed. Plans are in place to invest a total of 100 million RMB in six consecutive years to build South Mountain into a comprehensive tourist destination integrating natural landscapes, ethnic customs, leisure and entertainment.
