Transportation Guide
The park sits on the river embankments on both banks of the Zhanhe River in central urban Pingdingshan.
Zhanhe Park lies on the embankments along both sides of the Zhanhe River in central downtown Pingdingshan. It stretches for 6 kilometres, from Guangming Road Bridge in the west to Xinhua Road Bridge in the east. The park is 240 metres wide from north to south, including an 80-metre-wide river surface. It covers a total area of 72 hectares, among which the water area accounts for 24 hectares.
Transformed from the former shelter forest belt in September 1984, it is an open park where tourists can enter freely for sightseeing and recreation.
Zhanhe Park is one of the three major natural scenic resources in Pingdingshan City. Making full use of the river surface, the park offers water activities such as swimming and boating, forming a lively activity zone. The river embankments serve as a quiet resting area. The combination of dynamic and quiet zones turns it into a unique waterside park.
Five bridges span the three-kilometre river section, tightly linking the two banks of the park. Zhongxing Road crosses the Zhanhe River and naturally divides the park into four themed zones themed after the four seasons: Spring Garden, Summer Garden, Autumn Garden and Winter Garden, each laid out with seasonal scenery.
On the western end stand a sand beach bathing area and the Rainbow Bridge. On the southern side are the Riverside Park and a smaller inner garden named Fengchun Garden (Garden of Welcoming Spring).
Each zone features its own core landscapes and unique charm:
Spring Garden: South bank of Zhanhe River, west of Zhongxing Road
Summer Garden: South bank of Zhanhe River, east of Zhongxing Road
Autumn Garden: North bank of Zhanhe River, west of Zhongxing Road
Winter Garden: North bank of Zhanhe River, east of Zhongxing Road
The zones are separated by forest belts. With carefully arranged pavilions and terraces set amid seasonal landscapes, the whole park has become an elegant and tranquil recreational paradise.
At the Kaiyuan Road Bridge stands the Monument to Geologists with an inscription handwritten by Comrade Jiang Zemin, together with a large sculptural group
