Scenic Introduction
Zhangji Catholic Church stands at the eastern end of Jiankang Road, Chengguan Town, Hejian City. Constructed in the 6th year of the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1856), it got its name for being situated to the west of Zhangzhuang Village.
The church complex consists of two building clusters in the east and west, covering several mu of land. It includes ten multi-storey buildings and numerous single-storey houses, presenting a grand scale.
Sanlipu, 15 kilometers north of Hejian City, is home to an ancestral shrine built in memory of Mao Chang, a renowned scholar serving the Prince of Hejian in the Western Han Dynasty. Erected during the Zhizheng reign of the Yuan Dynasty (1341–1368), it was renovated repeatedly in the Ming and Qing dynasties. The shrine once served as a school where scholars gave lectures and held examinations for students.
The main hall has three bays, housing a clay statue of Master Mao and a horizontal inscribed board bearing the words "Master of the Six Arts". Behind the shrine lies Mao Chang's tomb, 5 meters high and 30 meters in diameter. The shrine and tomb were destroyed in 1967, leaving only ruins today.
