Transportation here is very convenient. The Tongpu and Houxi trunk railways serve as major traffic arteries, together with the branch railway from Liyuan to Gudui.
Highways radiate outwards from Yuncheng City. Major highways include Taiyuan–Maojindu, Jincheng–Yumenkou, Linyi–Daning and Yuncheng–Fenglingdu. Branch highways run from Wenxi to Yongji and from Fenglingdu to Pinglu.
The expressways linking Yuncheng with Sanmenxia and Fenglingdu have been open to traffic, while the Datong–Yuncheng Expressway is under construction.
Railway
Trains depart from Yuncheng for Beijing, Xi’an, Tianjin, Chengdu, Taiyuan, Shijiazhuang, Datong, Linfen and other cities.
Highway
National Highway 209 passes through Yuncheng, leading to Sanmenxia in Henan Province and Huayin in Shaanxi Province.
Long-distance buses bound for Wutai Mountain leave Taiyuan Coach Station every 32 minutes.
If you travel to Wutai Mountain from Shanghai, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Jinan, Shijiazhuang, Xi’an or Zhengzhou, you may first take an express train to Taiyuan, then catch a direct long-distance bus from Wuyi Square in downtown Taiyuan to Wutai Mountain.
Air Travel
There are direct flights to Taiyuan from major cities including Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Xi’an. Upon arriving in Taiyuan, tourists can take long-distance buses from Wuyi Square to Wutai Mountain.
Since neither trains nor planes reach Wutai Mountain directly, road passenger transport is particularly important.
If you take a train on the Beijing–Yuanping railway line, you can get off at Shahe, Fanshi, Dai County or Yuanping, and then transfer to a local bus heading for Wutai Mountain.
On the North Tongpu Railway between Datong and Taiyuan, buses to Wutai Mountain are available at Ningwu and Yuanping. Xinzhou runs multiple daily long-distance services to Wutai Mountain.
Direct coaches run from Fuping in Hebei Province to Taihuai Town at Wutai Mountain, and shuttle buses operate every day between Taihuai Town and Taiyuan.
The peak tourist season falls during the Wutai Mountain June Fair (from the first day of the sixth lunar month to the tenth day of the seventh lunar month). Extra tourist buses are launched from surrounding towns, such as Dongye, Yangquan, Fuping, Fanshi, Yuanping and Shahe.
Scenic Introduction
Dayu Ferry is situated in the southeast of Ruicheng County on the north bank of the Yellow River. According to legend, Yu the Great once rested here while harnessing floods, hence the name.
There are buildings such as the River View Tower and Wangyue Pavilion along the riverbank.
Beside the ferry stands a statue of Yu the Great over 12 metres high, featuring a dignified and impressive shape. The three Chinese characters “Dayu Ferry” on the statue were written personally by Zhao Puchu.
On the north bank of the Yellow River grows a towering ancient cypress tree. A stele corridor stands beneath the tree, housing numerous ancient stone tablets, among which the most famous one bears the inscription Record of Reconstructing Yu Temple in Divine Cypress Valley
