Nestled deep in the Taihang Mountains of Nanzhai Town at the border of Henan and Shanxi, northwest of Huixian City, Qiwangzhai Scenic Area consists of two sightseeing zones: Qiwangzhai and Tianzhu Valley.
Legend has it that a King of Qi lived in seclusion here during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, leaving behind numerous widely-told folk tales and related historical relics. The Twin Qiwang Waterfalls, one open and one hidden, deliver an ageless breathtaking melody; the Ringing Spring and Dream Spring sit respectively to the south and north, echoing the footsteps of ancient history. A single sword strike cleaved the mountain to form a secluded valley, where visitors pause, mistaking the scenery for regions south of the Yangtze River. Divine deities guard the mountain village to the south, while a towering stone pillar rises to prop up half the sky to the north. Giant immortal footprints mark the eastern cliff, and a thumb-shaped peak stands on the western side. Two lion-like rock formations lie crouching amid the Taihang Mountains, and a divine stone statue stands atop the mountain summit. Boasting stunning natural scenery, this spot is an ideal resort for sightseeing, leisure and summer retreats.
