Qi River National Wetland Park
The planned area of Qi River National Wetland Park stretches westward to Hejia Village of Qi County, eastward to Pangcun Village of Qibin District, northward to Xugou Village, and southward to Lihezhai Village of Qi County. It covers a total area of 332.5 hectares, among which the wetland area reaches 271 hectares, accounting for 81.43 percent of the total land.
The park is divided into three functional zones: ecological conservation, popular science education, and management and service.
The ecological conservation zone covers 248.1 hectares, covering river channels and tidal flats. Its main objectives are to protect the wetland ecosystem of the Qi River and Xugou Hot Spring, preserve the primitive natural features of the river wetland, safeguard the water environment, restore vegetation on river flats, and carry out long-term ecological monitoring, birdwatching, as well as hydrological and water quality observation.
The popular science education zone spans 77 hectares. With improved water systems and restored vegetation, it will build a science popularization center and a Qi River cultural exhibition center to spread wetland knowledge, raise environmental awareness, and develop eco-tourism and leisure activities.
The management and service zone occupies 7.4 hectares, housing administrative offices, public service facilities and infrastructure for the wetland park.
Upon completion, the national wetland park will present a picturesque wetland landscape with lush grass, verdant bamboo flocks, flocks of birds and fish darting in clear shallow water. It will effectively conserve the wetland ecosystem and grow into a national wetland park featuring pleasant natural scenery, diverse wetland views, profound cultural heritage, and distinctive characteristics of northern river wetlands.
