Memorial Hall of Huaibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Base Area

In 2009, on the basis of extensive solicitation of opinions from all sectors of society, the county Party committee and county government invested 50 million yuan to build the Memorial Hall of Huaibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Base Area. Designed by Mr. Qi Kang, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of the School of Architecture, Southeast University, the museum boasts an ingenious design and magnificent momentum. Shaped like a five-pointed star, its exterior symbolizes the everlasting radiance of communist spirit.

The two-story main building covers a total construction area of 2,450 square meters. The indoor exhibitions feature historical photos and cultural relics as the core displays, supplemented by scene recreations, oil paintings, sculptures, holographic projections, documentaries and other presentation forms. They vividly recount the touching and heroic stories of older-generation proletarian revolutionaries including Jiang Shangqing, Zhang Aiping, Liu Ruilong, Peng Xuefeng and Deng Zihui, as well as the Party, government, military and civilians in Huaibei who united as one, shared a bitter hatred of the enemy and fought bloody battles.

On December 13, 2012, Comrade Jiang Zemin personally inscribed the name of the Memorial Hall of Huaibei Anti-Japanese Democratic Base Area.
