Main Hall of Emperor Tang Temple

Period: Yuan Dynasty Location: Dongwanghe Village, Xiaojing Township, south of Bo'ai County seat

The exact year when the Main Hall of Emperor Tang Temple was first built can no longer be verified. According to the surviving stone stele: "Traditionally it was constructed during the reign of the Tartar King". The original complex included the main hall, worship hall, side chambers and mountain gate. The temple was renovated in the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. Most buildings were demolished in the early 1950s, leaving only the main hall standing today.

The hall has three bays in width and three bays in depth. It features a hip-and-gable roof covered with grey cylindrical tiles. Some bracket sets have decayed, yet the whole structure remains generally intact.

Beneath the front corridor stands a reconstruction stele erected in the 36th year of the Kangxi reign (1698 AD). It records the renovation project, mentions that Li Zicheng once stationed his troops inside the temple, and describes a severe locust plague that devastated farmland.

This hall is a well-preserved Yuan Dynasty building. Its bracket sets and wooden framework embody sophisticated craftsmanship with distinctive dynastic characteristics, making it a valuable reference for the study of Yuan architectural art.

On November 21, 1986, the People's Government of Henan Province listed it in the second batch of Provincial Key Cultural Relic Protection Units.
