Zhang Hui Park is located on Laohutai in the eastern suburb of Puyang County, north of the Golden Embankment and south of the South Ring Road. Centered on the Tomb and Stele of Zhang Hui, the park stretches 200 meters east and west, with a planned total area of 600 mu. Its Phase I project covers 4.5 mu and started construction in March 1998.
The Tomb of Zhang Hui is circular, with a diameter of 20 meters. Its foundation stands 2.6 meters high, and the earthen mound rises 5 meters. The tomb base is built with dressed stones, reinforced by 8 reinforced concrete structural columns and two ring beams. The top of the mound is covered with lawn. An 8-meter-wide circular path encircles the tomb. A retaining wall of rough stone masonry runs along the outer side of the path, which is paved with bluestone slabs. Flower beds, trees and flowers are arranged all around. A small square covering 400 square meters lies 20 meters south of the tomb, with a flight of bluestone steps — 8 meters wide and 12 steps high — at its southern end.
The Stele of Zhang Hui stands outside the small square. It is 3 meters tall, 0.76 meters wide and 0.5 meters thick. Four steps of bluestone slabs, 5.4 meters in width, are laid 20 meters to the south of the stele. A 12-meter-wide rectangular ring road surrounds the stele. The front side of the stele is engraved with the inscription Tomb of Zhang Hui, Ancestor of the Zhang Clan in China, while the back bears an epitaph written by the People's Government of Puyang County.
The Statue of Zhang Hui is situated 90 meters south of the stele. Its base is 5.15 meters high, constructed of reinforced concrete and faced with granite. Four line drawings adorn the base, depicting scenes: Inventing Bows and Arrows, Hunting Birds and Beasts, Fighting Against Gonggong, and Being Granted the Surname by Zhuanxu. The vivid illustrations record the great achievements of Zhang Hui.
The statue itself is 3.3 meters tall, carved from solid red granite. Together with the base, the total height reaches 8.45 meters. Holding a bow with arrows slung at his side and gazing into the distance, Zhang Hui looks powerful and imposing.
The tomb, stele and statue are connected by a garden path. The path is 112 meters long and 5.4 meters wide, paved with pebbles in varied patterns, and lined with trees and flowers on both sides.
Now Zhang Hui Park has become a popular scenic spot in Puyang
