 Basic Overview
Barluk Mountain, literally meaning "richness and abundance" in Kazakh, straddles Tuoli County and Yumin County under Tacheng Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China, bordering Kazakhstan to the west. Classified as a national 4A-level tourist attraction and a national nature reserve with a total protected area of 115,037.3 hectares, the mountain range stretches 250 km from east to west with a maximum width of 80 km, belonging to the western branch of the Tianshan Mountains, sandwiched between the Tianshan and Altai Mountains. Its main peak, Kongtakamp Peak, rises to an altitude of 3,252 meters with permanent snow cover. Favored by moist westerly airflow amid the arid Junggar Basin, Barluk Mountain is hailed as an oasis of green in the desert, a natural museum for wild animals and a natural garden for wild plants, retaining nearly intact primitive ecological landscapes due to late tourism development.

Geology, Climate & Four-Season Scenery
It features diversified landforms including snow-capped peaks, alpine canyons, coniferous forests, rolling hilly meadows and mountain river valleys, integrating the grandeur of Tianshan and the soft grace of the Altai Mountains. The temperate continental arid climate brings cool summers and frigid winters, forming distinctive seasonal views:
Late April to mid-May: Wild almond blossoms carpet the valleys into a vast pink ocean; wild peonies bloom across the meadow valleys.
June to August (peak travel season): Alpine meadows are blanketed with colorful wildflowers, lush forests and clear mountain streams form a natural oxygen bar.
September to October: Grasslands turn golden red, presenting gorgeous autumn pastoral scenery.
Winter: The whole mountain is wrapped in snow, quiet and pristine for ice and snow sightseeing.
Rich Biodiversity
As a precious natural gene bank of biodiversity in northern Xinjiang, Barluk Mountain hosts more than 1,000 wild plant species, over 490 kinds of medicinal plants such as fritillary, licorice and cynomorium songaricum裕民县人民.... The globally rare wild almond forest, a tertiary relict "living fossil" plant, covers over 24,000 mu of contiguous woods here, ranking the largest wild wild almond habitat worldwide.
For wildlife, snow leopards, brown bears, Siberian ibex, argali sheep, red deer and goitered gazelle inhabit high mountain rocky zones; golden eagles, saker falcons, great bustards and swans dwell in forests and wetlands, with over 90 recorded wild animal species in total.
Core Natural Attractions
Turjaly Grassland
Known as "Pasture for Nobles" in Kazakh, it is a 1 million-mu undulating hilly grassland at the northern foot of Barluk Mountain, famous for layered green waves, blooming wild flowers and idyllic Kazakh nomadic customs.
Tasite River Valley
Original spruce and birch forests line both banks of the Tasite River. Crystal-clear running water, dense woods and diverse birds build a tranquil primitive forest landscape ideal for hiking and camping.
Wild Peony Valley & Wild Almond Reserve

Little Poplar Sentry Post
