Jiufu Mountain is a provincial-level nature reserve. It is situated in the southwestern part of Youxi County, on the western side of the northern Daiyun Mountain Range, right in the geographical heartland of Fujian Province. The reserve spans the junction of five villages across three towns: Qiqi Village of Xicheng Town, Shuangli Village and Gezhu Village of Xinyang Town, as well as Jingkou Village and Jiangkeng Village of Banmian Township. It is only 12 kilometres from the county seat, making it the most valuable forest eco-tourism scenic area for development in our county. In October 2001, the People’s Government of Fujian Province officially approved the establishment of Youxi Jiufu Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve.

This primeval subtropical rainforest teems with rare plant and wildlife species. Within the reserve grow 2 species of national first-class protected plants and 11 species of national second-class protected plants; there are also 7 species of national first-class protected animals and 56 species of national second-class protected animals.

Steep cliffs tower on the mountain, while clear brooks gurgle below. The winding path offers a new scenic view at every turn. The grand canyon of Jiufu Mountain remains largely untouched by human footprints, shrouded in mystery and full of fascination. Stretching dozens of metres long, the cascading waterfalls produce thunderous roars like rolling thunder. Looking down from the mountain top, the canyon and precipices are densely covered by lush green trees. Undulating mountain ridges crisscross far into the distance.

Based on the distribution of natural resources, the tourist area is divided into three scenic zones with three circular travel routes: Phoenix Mountain Bamboo Sea Zone, Houshanping Leisure Zone, and Zhuyuanli Folk Residence Zone. Available activities include Jiufuxi Canyon Exploration, Jiufuxi River Drifting and climbing Immortal Mountain.

The scenic area combines seclusion, precipitous terrain, exotic rock formations and magnificent views, constantly stirring visitors’ desire for in-depth exploration. It is an ideal destination for adventure sightseeing and forest bathing.
