Lushuihe National Forest Park

Lushuihe National Forest Park is 340 kilometres away from Changchun, the provincial capital. Tourists can take National Highway 201 and then switch to National Highway 302 to reach Changchun. It takes 3.5 hours to drive to Yanji Airport, and the Changchun-Jilin Railway runs through the whole town. Lushuihe serves as the gateway and hub for Changbai Mountain tourism. Visitors can hike both the northern and western slopes from here. Together with the Heavenly Lake, waterfalls, alpine gardens and natural wildlife parks on Changbai Mountain, the national forest park forms a spectacular top-grade botanical landscape. The park consists of six scenic zones: Pine Sea, Pine Source, Songjiang River, Pine Lake, Deer Chasing and River Drift. Dominated by primeval forests, it integrates rivers, streams, waterfalls, rime and snow scenery. It is characterised by precipitous and graceful scenery, dense woodland, mysterious atmosphere and serene surroundings. The park boasts abundant tourist resources and a splendid natural environment with a wide variety of flora and fauna, including 53 species of national Class I and Class II protected wild animals. Tigers roar deep in the mountains, bears wander in the woods, deer call in green valleys, otters play beside brooks, wild boars move in herds, and roe deer walk in lines. It is reputed as a natural wildlife zoo.

Highlighted by Changbai Mountain folk customs and forest culture, this multi-functional comprehensive park offers forest exploration, hunting, leisure vacations, winter swimming, river drifting, ecological investigation and environmental education.

The park enjoys a temperate monsoon climate. It has Asia’s largest Korean pine seed forest covering 11,725 hectares. Ancient trees tower into the sky amid the roaring pines. The negative ion concentration reaches 50,000 per cubic centimetre, making it a natural oxygen bar. It is an ideal destination for sightseeing, holiday recreation, popular science research and business conferences.
