Ciyun Temple lies at the foot of the well-known Zhuer Mountain in Caijiagou Town and enjoys a high reputation in Buddhist circles. First built in the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), it covers an area of 3.3 hectares with a construction area of about 4,062 square metres.

The temple complex centres on the Mahavira Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Ksitigarbha Hall, Dharma Protector Hall, Bell Tower and Drum Tower, with side chambers arranged on the east and west sides. The buildings are laid out in well-proportioned order, featuring primitive elegance, grandeur and resplendent beauty. Their architectural style fully embodies Buddhist characteristics and the charm of an ancient temple. Tiered brackets and upturned eaves stand out, with green trees and red tiles set against blue skies and white clouds.

When the morning breeze blows, birds sing, flowers bloom and Buddhist chants resound. Beneath the sunset, quiet green mountains silently wait for Zen practitioners.

During temple fairs held on the 8th, 18th and 28th days of the fourth lunar month every year, as well as major Buddhist festivals such as Guanyin Bodhisattva’s Birthday, tens of thousands of pilgrims and tourists come here, creating a bustling scene.
