Shazhou Forest Park

Shazhou Forest Park is situated in Zengsheng Town, Fuyu City, within the state-owned Zengsheng Forest Farm. It presently boasts a forested area of over 3,000 hectares, with a planned area of 1,428 hectares, including 169 hectares of water surface. The park features rolling pine forests with rustling pines, fresh air and pleasant natural surroundings.

Geologically, the park lies on the eastern uplift of the Songliao Subsidence Basin in the second subsidence zone of eastern Asia. The terrain consists of undulating ridges with an altitude ranging from 140 metres to 250 metres and a relative height difference of 15 to 110 metres. It is an alluvial plain covered with meadow soil and sandy soil.

The Second Songhua River flows along the southern edge of the park, running from southeast to northwest for about 5,250 metres within the scenic area. The river channel is 750 to 950 metres wide, with an annual average runoff of 40.95 billion cubic metres. The flood season lasts from June to September.

The region has a temperate monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. The native vegetation is sparse sand dune woodland and steppe, consisting mainly of natural secondary forests and sand-fixing herbaceous plants. Woody species include poplar and Scotch pine, together with Siberian elm, wild apricot, sand willow, Mongolian oak, mulberry, hawthorn and other varieties. Wild animals found here include Manchurian hares, mallards, quails, crows and sparrows. There is a rich variety of wild fish such as grass carp, common carp, crucian carp, loach and silver carp.

Within the park stands the Shengying Mountain Tourist Zone founded by elderly Mr. Ji Xiwen, which focuses on traditional Chinese medicine tourism. Facilities include a Buddhist hall, a TCM tourist clinic, a painted dragon wall, viewing platforms, mountain hiking trails and the Shengying Welfare Institute.

The Shengying Welfare Institute provides shelter for 185 people in total, including 49 elderly residents supported free of charge and 11 orphans raised without charge. Large-scale agricultural operations have been developed in breeding zones and organic farmlands, including sika deer farms, horse ranches, chicken farms, pig farms, fisheries, camel farms and guinea fowl farms. There are also workshops producing incense and cold-pressed edible oil, a demonstration zone for organic crops irrigated by river water (including organic rice, peanuts, corn and coarse grains), a ginseng and medicinal flower plantation, as well as the Shizhen Medical Clinic.
