Site of the Baijiabaozi Massacre
A Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, it is located in Huanggou Village, Xinglin Town, Tonghua County, Jilin Province. The Honggu Highway passes beside it, and it is 60 kilometers away from Tonghua City.
In those years, the Self-Defense Force led by Chief of Staff Zhao Mingsi of the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces (led by General Yang Jingyu) and the Anti-Japanese Volunteer Army commanded by the renowned anti-Japanese general Wang Fengge often operated here.
On July 8, 1936, after a counterattack by the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces, the brutal Japanese invaders slaughtered more than 400 civilians in Baijiabaozi, committing the heinous Baijiabaozi Massacre.
On July 15, 1965, the CPC Tonghua County Committee and the People's Government of Tonghua County erected a monument here in memory of the victims, to forever remember the crimes of the Japanese invaders and cherish the memory of the deceased compatriots.
