Now a National 3A-level Tourist Attraction, Nanshan Tourist Scenic Area was built in 1997 with investment from Jilin Tongtai Mining and Metallurgy Company. It is located in Erdaolingzi Village, Yitong Town, 6 kilometers south of the county seat, covering a total area of 18 square kilometers. Its main businesses include tourism development, tourist services, ecological sightseeing and crop cultivation.

Other themed views include Forested Mountains and Ancient Temples, Moonlight over Nanshan, A Sacred Retreat – Baoyong Temple and Auspicious Scenery. The temple also houses statues of the Three Buddhas of the Three Ages and boasts Asia’s largest indoor bronze sitting Buddha.
Surrounded by rolling mountains and lush woods, the scenic area enjoys a pleasant environment. It has 140 hectares of man-made forests and 120 hectares of natural forests, with more than 50,000 cloned pear trees planted under the Grain-for-Green Program. The woods abound with wild delicacies such as hazelnuts, acorns, wild walnuts, hawthorns, matsutake mushrooms and white mushrooms. Various animals including squirrels and magpies dwell here for visitors to watch.
With fresh air, serene surroundings and unique landscapes, the scenic area has a forest coverage rate of over 80%. It is an ideal destination for Buddhist worship, vacations and leisure activities. Since its opening, supporting facilities and service capabilities have been continuously improved. Boasting a perfect combination of religious culture and natural scenery, it attracts tens of thousands of tourists every year.
