One-Day Tour of Yunxiao Scenery
Pick up the group in Yunxiao in the morning, then head for General Mountain Park. The mountain gets its name because General Gui De Chen Zheng led troops to garrison Fujian in the 2nd year of the Zongzhang reign of the Tang Dynasty and was buried here after his death. Visit the East Gate, Dragon Lake, Guide Building, Cultural Square, Chen Zheng Cemetery and stone sculpture artworks.
(Lunch will be served at General Mountain.)
After lunch, proceed to Baita Village of Dongxia Town, and walk along the plank road to admire Fujian Zhangjiang Estuary Mangrove National Nature Reserve (subject to tide conditions). Located at the estuary of the Zhangjiang River in Yunxiao County, 10 kilometers away from the county seat, this national wetland nature reserve faces the Tamsui River Estuary Mangrove Reserve in Taiwan across the sea. Covering a total area of 2,360 hectares, it boasts the largest, most diverse and best-preserved natural mangrove communities north of the Tropic of Cancer. Serving as a vital stopover and breeding ground for migratory birds worldwide, it holds great potential for scientific research, teaching and tourism development.
(Alternative itinerary) Travel to Wushan Scenic Area, which features precipitous peaks, exotic rock formations, numerous caves and deep mountain streams. Sights include Dragon Bed Rock (also known as Steamer Rock), sky-piercing stalagmites, Brush Rack Mountain, Immortal Stove, One-Line Sky, Divine Ox Looking Back, Immortal-Built Bridge, the huge Eighteen Officials Cave, and Turtle Watching the Sea. Wushan is also an important revolutionary base, housing the former site of the Minnan Prefectural Party Committee, Lu Dao’s Tomb, an underground printing house and other red attractions, making it an ideal venue for ideological education among teenagers.
