Liu'ao Abstract Gallery Tourist Resort
The resort is situated on Laoya Mountain in the eastern part of the Liu'ao Peninsula. It faces the Taiwan Strait to the east, with Laoya Mountain to its west, and continuous scenic sand beaches and forest belts stretching to both the north and south. The scenic area lies around 35 kilometers away from the Zhaojiabao Interchange of the Tongsan Expressway.
Laoya Mountain features coastal landforms of marine-weathered granite formed by sea erosion. Over millions of years, the rocks here have been weathered and scoured by ocean waves and wind. Unique mineral deposits have formed reddish-brown veins, creating gorgeous and varied patterns across crisscross gullies. Every rock face resembles a painting, with fresh views unfolding at every step; the shapes are unpredictable and dreamlike, just like masterpieces of modern abstract art. For this reason, geologists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences named this place the "Abstract Gallery".
Exposed rock formations on the mountain slope take vivid animal shapes such as "Pensive Sheep", "Divine Turtle Marching to Sea", "Pigsy’s Wedding", "Sea Lions Whispering" and "Swallow Spreading Wings", all lifelike and exquisitely realistic. The flat, premium golden sand beaches along the coastline and lush windbreak forest belts deliver an extraordinarily grand and refreshing scenery. Specialists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have praised this location as "a rare unique landscape nationwide" and "a premium tourism resource", making it an ideal site for developing a coastal tourist resort.
The golden beach zone stretches roughly 9 kilometers in total, suitable for developing coastal bathing beaches, beach sports and other programs.
- The Red Rock Zone boasts colorful red and brown stone formations with gorgeous hues.
- The Fantastic Stone Zone features exposed rocks of diverse and vivid shapes covering the mountain slopes.
- The Abstract Gallery Zone boasts an unparalleled natural wonder. Nature’s extraordinary craftsmanship has carved magnificent abstract rock murals across the hillside.
Coastal sightseeing and granite landform appreciation projects can be developed within these three sub-zones. A fifth sub-zone is planned for the "Golden Coast" coastal resort and supporting tourism facilities.
The scenic area covers a planned development area of 2,000 mu with an estimated total investment of 200 million RMB. Major planned facilities include a marine sports center, sailing club, beach sports ground, coastal bathing beach, rock mural sightseeing area, painting and calligraphy gallery, sea-view pavilion, wave-watching corridor, star-rated hotels and villa clusters.
