Yongsheng of China · Yunnan Frontier Garrison Culture Museum
The Yongsheng of China · Yunnan Frontier Garrison Culture Museum is situated in Beiwan Village, Maojiawan, Fengyu Village Committee, on the shore of Chenghai Lake in Yongsheng County. This was the place where Mao Taihua, the 20th-generation ancestor of Mao Zedong, lived as a settler for more than thirty years.
The museum was founded on December 26, 2011. It covers a total land area of 64 mu (42,668.8 square metres). The complex includes the Frontier Garrison Culture Museum, the Memorial Garden for Mao Zedong’s Ancestors, Guangming Square and the Mao Clan Ancestral Hall.
The total construction area reaches 4,700 square metres, with an exhibition area of 2,800 square metres and a green space of 6,699 square metres.

The Memorial Garden for Mao Zedong’s Ancestors contains four exhibition pavilions:

Life Stories of Mao Zedong
The Mao Clan Ancestral Hall has three showrooms.
Between the museum and the memorial garden lies Guangming Square. At the centre of the square stands a life-size bronze standing statue of Mao Zedong. The bronze statue faces east with Phoenix Mountain at its back. On the front side of the pedestal are four characters handwritten by Mao Zedong: Bright Future Ahead.
