Introduction to Tianlai Jiayi Scenic Area, Xinhe County
Jiayi Village in Xinhe County is Xinjiang’s most important inheritance base for handcrafted musical instruments with distinctive local ethnic features. The craft is inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The residential houses and core zone of the scenic area reflect the primitive and rugged style of ancient Western Regions architecture, while retaining the typical building traditions of Uyghur dwellings in southern Xinjiang. In particular, the main exhibition area features the solemn grandeur of Western Regions castles as well as the imposing charm of the Han and Tang dynasties. Drawing on the ancient Kucha grotto-building techniques, it recreates the magnificent look of Kucha cave temples.
To better inherit and promote local ethnic folk culture and build the cultural tourism brand of "China’s No.1 Village for Uyghur Handmade Musical Instruments in Xinjiang", the scenic spot combines ethnic styles with exquisite Chinese craftsmanship. It integrates intangible cultural heritage inheritance, artistic education and patriotism education, making it a precious treasure of Xinjiang folk culture and art as well as a popular tourist destination.
